Founded in July 2003, the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) was formed by merging the Minnesota Department of Trade and Economic Development and the Minnesota Department of Economic Security.Serving as the state’s principal economic development agency, DEED promotes business recruitment, growth, retention, international trade, workforce development, and community revitalization across Minnesota.Through programs like CareerForce centers, unemployment insurance, grants, and technical services, DEED assists individuals and businesses with training, financing, site selection, labor market insights, and support for underserved populations.
