Founded in 1869, Graybar Electric Company began as a supplier of telegraph equipment in Cleveland, Ohio, founded by Elisha Gray and Enos Barton. It evolved into the supply division of Western Electric before being spun out as Graybar in 1925 and incorporated in 1926. Now headquartered in Clayton, Missouri, it operates over 340 locations across North America, distributing electrical, communications, and data networking products. With nearly 10,000 employee-owners, Graybar reported roughly $11 billion in revenue in 2023. The company supports industrial, construction, utility, and infrastructure sectors through supply-chain management, logistics, engineering solutions, and digital innovation including an innovation lab launched in 2017.
