Founded in 2023, Renew Home is building a home energy management platform that can help millions of homes save and shift their energy use with smart devices, starting with Nest thermostats. ‍ By coordinating nuanced, increasingly personalized adjustments, we created a virtual power plant that will deliver gigawatts of capacity for a more reliable, cleaner energy grid. A win-win for everybody. The United States will need an additional 200 GW of capacity by 2030, of which 160 GW could be powered by VPPs.1 Can't picture 160 GW? That equals the total summer peak capacity of California, New York, and Georgia, combined.2 ‍ ‍This problem affects everybody, from energy providers who need to meet demand, to people who pay the energy bills.
