Founded in 1971 Stored Energy Systems (SENS) by Herb Kaewert, a battery industry veteran and M.I.T. graduate with a visionary approach to energy reliability. Originally located in Silicon Valley’s high-tech landscape, SENS was born out of Kaewert's pioneering insight: industrial batteries were highly sensitive to factors like temperature, shelf life, and charging practices, yet the market lacked battery chargers capable of addressing these critical needs. Drawing from his experience at Alkaline Batteries Corporation (ALCAD) - a leading U.S. supplier of NiCd batteries, later sold to the Chloride Group in the U.K. - Kaewert set out to create a company that would redefine battery charger technology.
