Organization Information : Founded in 1979, Polar Power, Inc. was originally incorporated in Washington State under the name Polar Products, and in 1991 became Polar Power when it reincorporated in California.Headquartered in Gardena, California, it designs and manufactures direct-current (DC) power systems, hybrid and solar-hybrid solutions, DC generators, and DC-based cooling equipment—serving telecommunications, military, marine, EV charging, renewable energy, and industrial clients.Polar Power’s core technologies center on permanent magnet homopolar DC generators and solar-battery hybrid systems that can reduce diesel fuel consumption at telecom and remote sites by up to 85%.The company also offers rapid EV charging systems, micro‑ and nano‑grid packages, and mobile power units tailored to harsh or off-grid environments.
Other Information: We were incorporated in the state of Washington in 1979 under the name Polar Products. To more specifically target the power systems industry, we changed our name to Polar Power Inc in 1991 and during this process we reincorporated in the state of California. Our corporate headquarters are located in Gardena, California. Our first product, a solar powered vaccine refrigerator/freezer for use in remote areas worldwide, was manufactured at our former Bellingham, Washington facility. This product was developed in support of a World Health Organization initiative and the U.S. Agency for International Development. This project was administered by the NASA Lewis Research Center. Since then, we have continued to expand our capabilities and product lines within the solar and renewable energy industries. Historically, solar powered products and systems developed and manufactured by us included voltage regulators, charge controllers, ice plants, freezers and refrigerators, water pumps, lighting, cathodic protection, telecommunication power systems, and ultra-low temperature freezers.
