Organization Information : Founded in 2023, Prüfentronik LLC by Austin Richards and Ezekiel Bierschank. We are engineers and entrepreneurs. We are passionate about helping the electrical utility industry improve safety, and our mission is to create affordable tools to quickly detect destructive corona discharge on transmission lines and distribution equipment. We chose to focus exclusively on providing corona detection tools that our end users can use to detect corona discharge and save time, labor and money by spotting and remediating minor problems before they turn into to hazardous issues. Our products detect the very faint shortwave ultraviolet radiation emitted by corona discharge using single-element detectors that are positioned behind focusing optics that define the field of view of the sensor device. Our devices operate in the shortwave ultraviolet band just as corona cameras do. This is in order to eliminate false readings from sunlight, since the amount of shortwave UV solar radiation at ground level is vanishingly small.

Their flagship product, the WitchFire, is a handheld ultraviolet sensor that rapidly locates corona discharge on high-voltage equipment. Operating in the solar-blind UV band (200–280 nm), the WitchFire is immune to sunlight, enabling effective daytime use. It features a cone-shaped field of view, allowing operators to pinpoint corona discharge within a 12-inch diameter spot at 20 feet. By offering a cost-effective alternative to traditional corona cameras, Prüfentronik aims to enhance early detection of destructive corona discharge, thereby helping to save lives, property, and ecosystems.
